Lions Clubs Coins for Kids
Lions Clubs Coins for Kids is a Fundraising Project that brings Lions Clubs, local Schools and young children together.
Children learn about helping others and experience basic concepts of cooperation, organisation, decision making and leadership - all while having a lot of fun! Lions provide the concept and advice while schools run the event themselves - sometimes at school during lunchtime, after school or even at a local shopping centre.
It’s easy, quick, fun and a massive opportunity for children to start understanding community service.
Usually different groups compete with each other to raise the highest number of coins – like sticking them to a line of masking tape and seeing which line is the longest!
The total money raised is split 50% towards a charity of choice by the school and 50% towards Lions (who donate their entire share to Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation - ALCCRF).
As part of the event learning concept the children are given the choice to vote on which organisation receives the school’s share. Sometimes, after hearing of the research being undertaken for kids with cancer they donate their share towards ALCCRF as well!
Documents to help answer your questions and make it simple for your Club to undertake this fun project are as follows...
